Hao Wei Lin
The Young Pianist
Why Taiwan matters to me?
Do you admire the poetic beauty of Paris? Do you have an endless imagination of South Africa? Have you ever tried to relate to the tangled emotions between Chopin and his girlfriend? This is the daily life of Hao Wei Lin, a 15-year-old piano player in Taiwan. For Lin, who performed in a symphony concert at the 2017 TAIWANfest at the age of 12, what interests him about becoming a future musician in Taiwan? Setting foot overseas earlier than his peers, Lin has explored many countries, each time stepping closer to the composers’ inner world, pounding on the keys over the landscape the masters once saw, recapturing the thrill of the musicians. Let’s follow Lin on his music, dreams and travel, and explore the world through the eyes of a 15-year-old.
Hao Wei Lin showed early promise as a pianist talent. At the age of 10, he took part in piano competitions in Germany and Poland, where the judges were impressed by his virtuoso performance. After that, he traveled to Europe and America to participate in music competitions and festivals, communicating with young music learners across the globe. For him, what mattered more was to experience cultures around the world. With each trip becoming his musical nourishment, he gracefully expresses the emotions inherent in the notes, immersing himself in the black and white keys and exploring the boundless imagination of classical music.
